What does it mean to be a good citizen?
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." -- Thomas Jefferson
I value my citizenship and will fight to protect it.
What this means to me:
1) Participating in the process. If you don't vote, you don't have a right to complain.
2) Understanding the issues, including the short- and long-term implications of our government's decisions.
3) Speaking out when I think something is wrong.
4) Working for change when I think something is wrong.
Yes, it is important to me to be a good citizen and I strive to be one.
Comments:
Most of you know I live in the liberal state of Massachusetts.
I know a few people who said, half joking, that if the Bush administration continued the policies of it's second term, they would move to Canada.
I'd rather stay and fight for what I believe in.
This is my country, too.

Ideally, where possible, people of good will should try to stay and fix this country, for the well-being of everyone in the world.
