"Funhaler" ... Really a Bong?

The Funhaler is an asthma medicine delivery device for kids. Traditional asthma inhalers scare kids into misuse (or non-use), but the Funhaler apparently "overcomes these difficulties by motivating the child to inhale willingly and effectively by the use of breath-driven incentive toys attached to the device, such as whistles and spinning discs."



How long will it take little Johnny to convert the "Funhaler" into a bong? As a long-time inhaler user, I understand the problem they're trying to solve, but this is ridiculous.

In September, I went to the MD for what was turning into pneumonia. When she learned I had a history of asthma, she pressed prescriptions on me for a fresh inhaler and a metered dose widget, which I had never previously used.

So, when I get this gizmo home from the pharmacy, I discover that to make sure you don't inhale too fast, it has a built in warning system. A harmonica. Essentially. If you inhale too sharply, it activates the reeds in the harmonica, and it goes "hooooOOOOOooonk".

Which makes it absolutely impossible to use, because there you are with an asthma attack to begin with and now you're laughing yourself silly, too.
