cosmicgarden and I went to the MIT List Visual Arts Center to see Son et Lumiere Specifically, I wanted to see the Listening Post by Mark Hensen and Ben Rubin. The listening post consists of 231 mini text display screens and a multi-channel voice synthesizer. The experience?
Incredible.
My favorite piece is I Am. The listening post samples the thousands of chat rooms and online public discussion forums. The text you see and hear has been collected over the past 24 hours, some of which are only a few hours old. If you wait through all four pieces, you get to experience I Love. I Like. instead of I Am.
Thoroughly worthwhile.
