Marriage is a change in tax status. Marriage is a package deal on car insurance. Marriage is being allowed to be covered by your spouse's health insurance. Marriage is communal property, in many states. Marriage is a contract. Marriage is a legitimizer of inheritance, for spouse and offspring. Marriage is an exclusive relationship between a pair of people for financial and legal reasons.
What you want is something else, which might be called marriage, but isn't what the legal definition is. It's too bad, too.
