Suggestions for NPR's Windfall
Nov. 17th, 2003 12:12 pmI've been thinking about the $200M left to NPR by Joan Kroc, the widow of McDonalds founder Roy Kroc. Coincidently, George Bush expects to have a war-chest of $200M for the upcoming presidential campaign. I have come up with a suggestion: NPR should run its own candidate for president. NPR certainly has the finances to run a political campaign and would have the backing of its considerable media holdings.
Consider the possible candidates: Daniel Pinkwater, Sylvia Poggioli, Carl Kasell, Anne Garrels, or best yet: Co-Presidents Tom & Ray Magliozzi!
