For those of you who don't read slashdot:

NASA Releases Mars Data for Maestro. Maestro is the application used by the mission scientists to control the Mars Spirit Rover. You can download Maestro here and then the first dataset.

The pictures are amazing!

If that isn't what you're looking for, try using you "Low Power FM" skills to build your own DIY uplink. I wonder what preventative measures NASA has in place to prevent such a thing. Do you suppose their command communications are encrypted?

I think they just assume that no one has the resources to build the kind of high-gain precision uplink facility that would be necessary to mess with it. And they're probably right.

I'm sure they've got some kind of inline protocol working for them. I certainly wouldn't be trusting everyone in the world who has a high-gain antenna.
