Equal Rights
Jan. 3rd, 2007 12:29 amToday, 62 lawmakers voted in a state Constitutional Convention to allow a ballot initiative banning gay marriage in the state of Massachusetts.
I propose a new ballot initiative to ban all 62 of these lawmakers from getting married in Massachusetts. Those already married would have their marriages converted to Civil Unions with all state and federal rights accorded to them.
Update - 3 Jan 2007, 6:45 PM
Corrected: First vote: 61 voted yes; second vote 62 voted yes.
I also recommend that the 170,000 people who signed the petition putting anti-gay marriage amendment on the ballot voluntarily give up their right to be married in Massachusetts.
